Dr. Stear began Chiropractic as a 3-year old child when his parents were seeking solutions to his health issues of epileptic seizures. Similarly to other children in the 1980's, he was prescribed Phenobarbital which provided little benefit. Dr. Stear's uncle (Dr. Scott Stear at Hulsebus Chiropractic Clinic of Machesney Park) evaluated his spine and found him to have spinal subluxations. Soon after beginning care, the seizures quickly ceased. Dr. Stear was taken off his prescribed medication and has been medication free since. One of Dr. Stear's guiding missions is to provide care to improve quality of life and reduce dependency on medication when able to.
Dr. Stear teaches all of his patients about the ten major risk factors for chronic spinal disease in an organized fashion. Doing so provides his patients with:
More predictable clinical outcomes
An improved response towards Chiropractic care
Reduced long term dependency on in-office visits while maintaining a high quality of life
Dr. Stear enjoys cases involving spinal disc issues where patient's need of surgery increases dramatically. Dr. Stear focuses on rehabilitation of injured spinal joints to reduce the need for spinal surgery.
Three interesting and similar cases have popped up after 10 years of care. Dr. Stear has experienced three patients report that following care, the patients one sided hearing loss was restored. None of the patients began care expecting any changes in hearing and every one was glad that it happened. These cases mimic the first Chiropractic patient back in 1895.
